This Privacy Policy explains how Race Hopper and Hopp to Events ("we", "us", "our") collect and use your personal information when you enter a "Hopp to the Pub" event. We are committed to handling your information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
1. Information we collect
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your emergency contact's name and phone number.
- For people you enter on behalf of: their name and (where provided) their email.
- Your ticket and event details, and the fact and time of your agreement to the indemnity waiver.
- Payment status. Card details are handled directly by our payment provider — we never see or store your card number.
2. Why we collect it
We use your information to process your entry and payment, issue and email your ticket, contact you about the event, manage check-in and on-the-day safety (including your emergency contact), and keep proper records.
3. Our lawful basis
We process your information with your consent (which you give by entering an event) and as necessary to perform our agreement with you.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run the events, acting as our operators:
- Yoco — to process payments.
- Resend — to send your ticket and event emails.
- Supabase and Vercel — to securely store our data and host the website.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including restricted access and secure storage.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as needed to run the event and to meet our record-keeping and legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@racehopper.co.za.
8. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
